Take Your Best Shot

Write about a time where you thought you were out of something, and in the end you were always in it to begin with.

About 2 weeks ago, I was bowling in a tournament. We bowled a six game qualifier for the first round. After 4 games, i was -100. In terms you may understand, it means I was 100 pins under 800 pins for 4 games. I thought for sure I was done. They were only going to take 10 people and there was 34 trying out. I was not confident at all. My dad pulled me aside, and ill never forget what he said, "Your the best at what YOU do, your skills will never be greater than your thoughts, but they can be pretty damn close". Now at the time, I didn't know a thing he was talking about, but after that game, i know what he meant. Your mental stage sets the standard for how you perform. And I was in no mental state to perform. After 5 I was -79. I bowled a better 5th game, but I knew the next one was mine. The sixth game I fired a 279 putting me in first place at 0. This tought me a lot, my dad made me better at what I do by simply saying a sentence. I ended up coming in 4th place for the whole tournament because of an injury, I tore open my thumb and i could barely bowl, but I kept on going and lost by 10 pins in the step ladder match to one of my good friends. It was the best day ive had in a while.

"The imperial family also offered their poems for the event."
When I read this article, it touched me. During a poetry contest, the winning poem was that describing the disaster in Japan.

I usually ask
Why in the world I have
Oppertunities
beyond my comprehension
I wonder how it started
A neighbor’s six year old child finds $30 on your driveway and gives it to you.  No one claims it.  Do you give the money to the child?

Yes, I would give the money to the child because as a child, when I found money, I would take it and run. But if the kid came to me and said, "I found this money in your driveway, here you go". That would touch my heart.

Are you more like a vision or a vulture

Brandon: Vulture because I can peck peoples eyes out
Collin: Vutlture because I can eat off of dead people
Shauna: Vision because I see the good in people
Mike: Vutlture because I get to fly around and eat mice
Tiff Tiff: Vision because I can see
Coltin: Vutlture because they can fly and are real
